Sales of fertilizers in Brazil saw a new record in September, amounting to 3.9 million tons, a growth of 9.4% in
comparison with the same period of 2013, according to data from the National Association of Diffusion of
Fertilizers (Anda). Over the year (until September), 23.7 million tons fertilizers were delivered, which means a
7.3% growth compared to the same period of 2013.

The nitrogen fertilizer increased by 6.2% in the year due to increased demand of maize, cotton, coffee and wheat,
said Anda. Phosphate fertilizers increased by 3.0%, while potassium fertilizers recorded growth of 9.1%.

The demand was heated mostly by the soybean sector. The planted soybean area will be a record during the
2014/2015 season. The National Supply Company (Conab) forecasts the area between 30.6 million hectares and
31.8 million hectares, which represents a increase of 5.5% in comparison with the 2013/14 season.

The deliveries tend to be more in the months of August, September and October because producers are prepared
to plant summer crops.

The state of Mato Grosso holds the lead in deliveries over the year, with 4.749 million tons, followed by Paraná,
with 3.148 million tons, Rio Grande do Sul, with 2.905 million tons and São Paulo with 2.724 million tons.
